WHAT IS BEE HONEY?

Honey is a sweet liquid produced by honey bees from bee pollen through a process of regurgitation and evaporation. There are more than 300 species of honey, differing in source, which bees use to collect pollen.

Flower honey is obtained from the nectar of the flowers of plants and trees, which are collected and processed in the body of worker bees. The nectar is placed in the wax cells, where it ferments and matures. Honey contains up to 75-79% fructose and glucose, 15-18% water. The remaining 10.3% are enzymes, minerals, cane sugar, organic acids, vitamins, tannin.

Leaving aside the seductive colour and aroma, honey has some proven superpowers. It has an unusual chemical composition that makes it preserves indefinitely without spoiling (found completely preserved ancient jars of honey, excavated in early Egyptian tombs). The honey is with uniquely low moisture content, preventing the development of bacteria and microorganisms. In addition, bees add an enzyme, glucose oxidase, creating hydrogen peroxide as a by-product. According to the National Institute in health, honey has hygroscopic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory properties.

In some cultures, it is also religious or symbolic importance is also used in folk medicine.

Honey is a magical ingredient, which is the small detail that gives a different taste to tea, the incredible smell of gingerbread and gives us the feeling of a natural product made with a lot of work by the bee.
